SUMMARY:  The NC Bar Foundation Programs Contract Attorney coordinates the NCBF Wills for Heroes program clinics across the state.

EDUCATION: J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school required.

EXPERIENCE: Requires experience with program management.

COMPENSATION: This position is compensated on a per-clinic/per-event basis. At least one clinic per month.

ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:  Excellent communication skills are required, including written, telephone and presentation skills. Candidate must demonstrate a professional demeanor, be able to work well with others, and possess a creative and entrepreneurial attitude towards program development and program management. Candidate must be able to competently collect and report on program-specific data for program management records.

Reports To:                     Sr. Director of the NC Bar Foundation

  1. Wills for Heroes Clinics

The Programs Contract Attorney will take lead on coordinating monthly Wills for Heroes clinics throughout the state, in a hybrid part-virtual / part in-person format. This position requires travel throughout the state to host the in-person portions of the clinics and will involve packing and unloading program materials, including signage, computer equipment, and refreshments. At least some clinics are likely to take place on Saturdays. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Recruit Wills for Heroes first responder partner hosts.
  • Recruit and train attorney and notary (paralegal) volunteers.
  • Create and track event registration (EventBrite) for volunteers and clients.
  • Coordinate clinic by managing host communications, logistics (both virtual and real), client registration and communications, attorney registration and communications, event marketing and any necessary materials production.
  • Day-of event management.
  • Track and internally report program data, including partner organization information, clients, attorney volunteers, and notary volunteers.
  • Continually refine and improve program documents, communications and operations in coordination with NCBF Programs Department staff.
