At Jeff Martin Auctioneers, Inc., we deliver practical auction solutions in a professional manner with a personal touch. Our auctions offer heavy construction equipment, transportation assets, as well as agricultural and industrial equipment.  As Auctioneers, we market to both sellers (consignors) and buyers (bidders). This unique service model places a high premium on our company's marketing and customer service functions. Once a seller consigns, our marketing team is responsible for marketing to our existing bidder base and finding new bidders for the assets crossing the auction block. Our marketing window is exceptionally compressed and deadline driven.  

We are looking for a highly-skilled, self-motivated marketing director to help us promote our auction services in the highly competitive equipment and transportation auction arena.  We are looking for a Marketing leader who will maximize current marketing channels and constantly explore new methods and processes. We look to deliberately invest in the Marketing function with an expectation of a strong ROI, including identifying end-user customers in our segment. Our ideal candidate will have marketing experience, which includes making and managing budgets, a comprehensive knowledge of building brand recognition, and the ability to lead our current team of employees, contractors, and vendors.  They must be able to work within tight deadlines and a high-pressure work environment. Requirements

Objectives of this Role 

  • Collaborating with the leadership team to uncover insights and strategies to develop and implement marketing and branding strategies for new and existing products, internally and externally 
  • Overseeing and growing the marketing department, consistently identifying cost saving opportunities while delivering consistent and growing bidder/buyer pool.  
  • Identify short-term and long-term scheduling, budget, and resource needs, including developing and managing an annual marketing budget, individual auction projections, expenditure spending, and other financial considerations. 
  • Understand marketing key performance indicators and tracking tools to provide market research, forecasts, competitive analyses, campaign results, and consumer trends to translate results into actionable insights for the marketing team 

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities 

  • Lead the development of our marketing plans working closely with sales team and company leadership, and distribution partners to create an effective and efficient marketing strategy focused on growing audiences for our auctions and auction services 
  • Spearhead the strategic and tactical execution of marketing campaigns, including design of test/control segmentation, implementation of tests, tracking, results reporting, analysis, and recommendations 
  • Manage conception, development, and implementation of marketing plan and strategies, product concepts, and promotional programs to drive interest and sales 
  • Hold regular meetings with sales managers to review the pipeline, resolve challenges, present possible solutions, and provide ongoing training to ensure the team consistently performs above standard. 
  • Attend and participate at conventions, conferences, and tradeshows, preparing engaging displays and collateral as needed and providing post-event reports and analysis 
  • Build and maintain the company brand book and oversee corporate and evergreen branding efforts. 

Skills and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, or communications(preferred) 
  • Successful track record in marketing roles and creating marketing campaigns 
  • Successful track record of marketing time-sensitive projects such as concerts, sporting events, political campaigns, or similar projects. 
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills 
  • Experience with digital and print marketing, content marketing, and social media marketing 
  • Experience with organic content creation and search engine optimization strategies 
  • Experience in building, managing, motivating, evaluating, and correcting a team of like-minded professionals. 
  • Proven ability to plan and manage budgets 
  • Working knowledge of HTML, content management systems, and design software 
  • Established a portfolio of marketing 
  • Desire to grow professionally with ongoing education 

Physical Requirements 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. 
  • Willingness to travel to significant auctions, management, and sales meetings. 
  • Working from home is possible after being established in the position for at least 6 months. (hybrid)
