Our Organization

Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego, Inc. (“RMHC-San Diego”) has provided a “home-away from-home” for families with children being treated for serious, often life-threatening conditions at local San Diego hospitals since 1980. The Organization operates 56 bedrooms year-round and provides a variety of other services, such as meals, family care and sibling education.  RMHC-San Diego has a team oriented, family focused and quality driven work atmosphere and provides a competitive salary, excellent medical, dental and vision coverage and competitive leave.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for growing philanthropic financial revenue with prospective and current donors. Under the guidance of the Director of Corporate and Community Philanthropy Director, the Coordinator will lead annual events such as Poker Ride, Red Shoe Day Imperial Valley, as well as other third-party events and initiatives. This position will also provide administrative assistance to the Corporate & Community Officer.

Reports To: Corporate and Community Philanthropy Director

Essential Functions:

  • Provide recommendations in creating the department business plan, which includes fundraising events, donor stewardship activities, fundraisers and cause marketing campaigns
  • Research and identify prospective donors for events and campaigns
  • Lead events and initiatives such as Red Shoe Day Imperial Valley, Poker Ride, Red Shoe Crew, Pennies with a Purpose, the Vehicle Donation Program, Commemorative Tile Program
  • Assist the Corporate & Community Philanthropy Officer, to coordinate aspects of Red Shoe Day, the Golf Invitational, Dinner with Friends and other events as assigned
  • Serve as primary management for assigned community & corporate service projects at the Ronald McDonald House and off-site
  • May participate in interviews with new employees, vendors, contractors and consultants and has input in the selection process.
  • Maintain production and fundraising records and budget class for assigned events/campaigns
  • Manage event budgets, train employees, committees, contractors, consultants and vendors for assigned events
  • Work with the Volunteer Services Director and House Operations employees to recruit and train event volunteers. as well as find and prepare House Guest speakers
  • Maintain sponsorship pledges and follow-up on outstanding payments
  • Coordinate sponsor recognition via print and digital media by working with appropriate colleagues and vendors
  • Coordinate auction solicitations and silent/live auctions
  • Coordinate all aspects of sponsorship recognition and post-event program development
  • Draft proposals, including corporate grants and acknowledgment letters as assigned
  • Assist with developing  fundraising and event marketing materials
  • Help maintain fundraising records, including Salesforce, donor lists and internal files
  • Maintain and complete regular reports, including fundraising, donor, event, marketing, finance and other internal reports
  • Produce letters and proposals for donors and/or prospects as assigned (including mail merge documents)
  • Communicates efficiently, both verbally and in writing, with a range of constituencies, including employees, trustees, volunteers, event committee members and donors
  • Demonstrates outstanding interpersonal skills while working as part of a small collaborative team setting
  • Support a wide range of projects in other departments as needed
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s Degree from accredited institution
  2. Minimum of 1-2 years of fundraising experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment
  3. Knowledge and experience with fundraising database resources
  4. Understanding and knowledge of Adobe and Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook) suites 
  5. Social Media proficiency
  6. Bilingual in English/Spanish languages
  7. Exceptional writing and oral communication skills
  8. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  9. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and extensive periods of time. Use of personal vehicle may be required; possess a valid driver’s license. Adjust personal work schedule to meet current work demands of the position
  10. Ability to balance multiple tasks and remain flexible in thinking and decision-making in changing situations
  11. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with House Guests, donors, supervisory staff, co-workers, vendors, and public/media

The employee is occasionally required to walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Vaccination Requirements:

Must be double vaccinated and a minimum of one booster for COVID-19.
