It is an exciting time to join AbbVie's Immunology Gastroenterology team as we pursue our mission to have a remarkable impact on the lives of people affected with IBD.

The HCP Marketing team is responsible for leading strategy and maximizing effectiveness across all of U.S. Immunology Gastroenterology as it relates to the following focus areas: Congresses, Sponsorships, Speaker Programs and External Consulting arrangements. This group works collaboratively with other U.S. Commercial Immunology Gastroenterology teams to establish and manage strategies derived from brand plans, create annual plans related to the above focus areas, and work alongside AbbVie internal functions to support flawless execution.

The Marketing Manager I/II, Gastroenterology Sponsorships and Congress position will have responsibility for leading Congress and Sponsorship strategy and planning across the Franchise in collaboration with functional partners - including overseeing the annual planning process. The successful candidate will closely collaborate with Brand Teams, Internal and External Agencies, Medical, Regulatory, Market Analytics and Business Intelligence (MABI), Legal, Office of Ethics and Compliance (OEC), Patient Advocacy, Field Operations, Field Sales, and Business Services teams in order to plan, execute, and create materials for various marketing-sponsored meetings. This position will be leveled at a Grade 18-19 based on experience.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Lead the integrated strategy and annual planning process for Congresses and Sponsorships related to cross-franchise brand plans
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process to ensure appropriate funding in order to deliver on brand objectives, including management of this budget
  • Manage the cross-franchise Congress and Sponsorship master calendar to ensure timelines, logistics and attendance objectives are met for national and marketing-sponsored meetings
  • Oversee and lead cross-functional teams in order to execute upon Congress and Sponsorship objectives (e.g., Digestive Disease Week, American College of Gastroenterology, and other major Congresses that may be prioritized)
  • Partner with patient advocacy and professional organization to identify Sponsorship opportunities outside of congress opportunities to support patients with IBD and providers treating IBD patients-including managing and updating frequently the cross-functional Advocacy Playbook
  • Analyze, manage, and execute Sponsorship opportunities
  • Ensure maximum benefits are being received from Sponsorship opportunities including tracking and sharing internally with the appropriate teams
  • Manage and oversee the tactical execution and accountability of key tactics, including review, approval and delivery of derivative materials (e.g., pre- and post-congress presentations); provide portfolio consulting on booth assets and congress media buys/creative
  • Oversee approval of Statements of Work / Purchase Orders, including coordination with relevant vendors and other logistics, as required
  • Ensure adherence to relevant policies and procedures related to planning and executing Congresses and Sponsorships, in collaboration with OEC
  • Track relevant metrics, and develop reporting / present outputs to Gastroenterology teams
  • Continually contribute to process and capability innovation through assessments and recommendations
  • Stay current on all processes and procedures related to Congresses and Sponsorships
  • Continually seek out best practices from other Abbvie franchises


*Level of the role will be determined based on candidate experience.

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5+ years relevant marketing experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Excellent diplomacy and facilitation skills; ability to influence without authority
  • Computer skills, MS Office and third-party software as needed
  • Solid business acumen, including budget management


Preferred:
  • Knowledge of AbbVie policies, procedures, culture, and other brand team operations
  • Knowledge and experience in Gastroenterology markets
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred (Client or Agency)
  • Congress and Sponsorship management experience desired (Client or Agency)
