JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Marketing & Sales is the creative visionary and strategic engine driving attendance, revenue, and brand awareness for City Museum. This role crafts, executes, and analyzes comprehensive marketing, communications, and sales strategies that reflect our unique, unconventional, and experiential brand. As an active, on-site senior leader, this position focuses on driving growth, fostering community partnerships, maximizing ticket revenue, and building iconic, immersive event experiences.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
On-Site Presence & Event Execution: Work hands-on and on-site at the museum, maintaining regular presence during key operational times, including nights, weekends, and holidays to oversee event execution and monitor guest engagement.
Event Strategy & Promotion: Conceptualize, build, and aggressively promote high-impact special events and major annual tent-pole events to drive repeat visitation and attract new audiences.
Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute creative short- and long-term marketing and sales plans that align with the museum's unique brand and business goals.
Revenue Optimization: Actively manage all admission ticket channels (online, season passes, groups, gate) to optimize pricing strategies and boost attendance.
Brand Stewardship: Ensure all internal and external messaging, creative direction, and social media presence remain authentic, innovative, and consistent with City Museum’s creative spirit.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Partner on-site with Operations, Food & Beverage, Maintenance, Crew, and Retail departments to seamlessly execute special events and integrate marketing with the live guest experience. Partner with Premier Parks corporate team for marketing strategies, planning, and execution.
Digital & Social Strategy: Oversee digital marketing, high-engagement social media content, and e-commerce platforms, ensuring dynamic and timely execution.
Partnerships & Outreach: Identify and cultivate local, regional, and national partnerships, sponsorships, and promotional opportunities to support event growth and increase awareness.
Agency & Creative Management: Work with external agencies (media buying, creative, PR) to develop campaigns that reflect the fun and imaginative nature of the museum.
Reporting & Analysis: Monitor budget expenses, track marketing ROI, and submit weekly analytical reports regarding attendance, event performance, and revenue.
Team Leadership: Provide hands-on guidance to the marketing and sales team, fostering a creative, high-energy, and collaborative work environment.
All other duties as deemed necessary by General Manager and Premier Parks Leadership.
Requirements
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: 4+ years of successful experience in marketing, communications, or sales, preferably within cultural attractions, live entertainment, festivals, or tourism hospitality sectors.
Event Marketing Expertise: Proven track record of launching, scaling, and marketing large-scale public events, festivals, or experiential activations.
Multi-Channel Marketing: Strong experience managing multi-channel advertising, digital marketing, website management, and creative campaigns that deliver measurable results.
Leadership & Culture: A proactive, creative, and "hands-on" management style. Ability to lead with integrity, positivity, and high energy in a unique, fast-paced environment.
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to serve as an ambassador for the brand.
Technical Skills: Proficient with social media analytics, e-commerce, and Microsoft Office (PPT, Excel).
Detail-Oriented: Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or equivalent experience.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Availability: Must be available to work a flexible schedule on-site, including regular nights, weekends, and holidays to support peak attendance days and major event executions.
Must be able to pass a criminal, drug, alcohol, and social security background check.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires the ability to navigate the unique, multi-level physical layout of City Museum (including climbing, stairs, and uneven surfaces) to understand, plan, and execute events on-site.
Must be able to work seated at a computer for extended periods of time for digital management and planning.
Occasional lifting and carrying of event promotional materials (up to 20 lbs).
